PETER COMBE MAKES ART THAT CHANGES FROM EVERY ANGLE. NO FANCY TECHNOLOGY, It’s just a trick of the way he makes his art! Using hundred of of paint color sample cards you can find at any paint shop, Peter assembles these pictures and portraits in 3D. The paper swatches are fixed to the canvas so that they lift off the canvas and glow onto the surrounding pieces creating really cool glowing colors.
Stand near and you can see the the paper cutout colors overlapping one another, looking like colorful, perfectly circular fish scales. But when you step back and see it as a full image, suddenly it’s a clear, colorful portrait of a person! See his work below. The first few just came out and others are being displayed right now in Miami, Florida at the Robert Fontaine Gallery’s Booth E1 at Context Art Miami Dec 2-7
I appropriate household paint swatches and make mostly 3 dimensional artworks. These artworks transform and change subtly as the viewer shifts from his/her vantage point.
